Rookhurst Lodge Residential Home

Rookhurst Lodge Residential Home

Rookhurst Lodge is situated in a quiet residential cul de sac in Bexhill on Sea within the county of East Sussex. This 6 (Six) bedded care home has been refurbished to accommodate the needs of the service users. The home has six spacious bedrooms with full en-suite bathrooms, a fully integrated kitchen area, a dining area with sea views and a comfortable lounge area. The rear of the property boasts a large patio and laid to lawn garden area. The bedrooms are arranged over two floors, all having views overlooking the rear garden or sea views.

The care and support we provide to our service users is comprehensive, it focuses on the uniqueness of the individual ensuring a person-centered approach within a homely environment, which is service user led.

We also promote and encourage independence and social integration by means of a range of social, educational and work-related activities within the local community or in house. Service users attend daily structured activities at various facilities in the community setting or within the home.

Our service users are fully involved in their meal planning, giving them a choice of freshly prepared nutritious home-made food, including consideration for those individuals with dietary needs. This information is based on ‘The eat-well plate’ policy tool that defines the Government’s recommendations on the types and portions of food people need for a healthy and well-balanced diet.

Some of our service users attend college, active arts, church groups, and traditional day services. The service users currently residing at Rookhurst Lodge have been supported to participate in gardening projects at their home where they have planted seeds, bulbs, and other plants. This will extend to them maintaining and growing their own produce, of which foods they will be able to incorporate within their daily meals and harvest in the longer term for their weekly menus.

We are in walking distance of the lovely sea views and the local area has many areas and parks for exercising and enjoying the scenery. There are a wide variety of social activities that our service users attend or can engage in at their choice, such as social clubs, gyms, swimming pools, and even a local nightclub which is available to service users monthly should they wish to engage.

We support and encourage individuals who choose to widen their experience to get involved with voluntary work e.g. charity shops. We have an open-door policy for family and friends to visit and continually remain involved in the daily lives and activities of our service users.

We maintain a positive working alliance with external agencies as we believe that in order to provide the best and most effective care and support, providing continuous opportunities requires a multidisciplinary approach; therefore, we work closely with a network of health and social care professionals to promote and maintain service users’ good health and well-being.

There are local transport links within a short distance. The local bus service runs regularly and the bus stop is five minutes’ walk away from the service. The town center is easily accessible, being only one mile away and is considered an enjoyable walk to gain access along the seafront. There is a company motor vehicle available at the service; however, we do encourage and support our service users to use public transport to promote independence. There are also direct rail links to London from nearby rail services.

Words From The Manager

With 30 years of diverse experience in the housing and social care industry, I’ve held roles ranging from senior carer to area manager. I’ve also worked on green initiatives with local governments, lived and worked in Cyprus for the United Nations, and have a passion for organic gardening and poetry. What drives me is a focus on person-centered care, aiming to empower service users and enrich their lives. I value a positive, happy work environment, and believe that simple acts of kindness, such as a smile or a cup of tea, can make a significant impact. I’m committed to lifelong learning, sharing skills, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those I support.
