Fiona Gibbs

Registered Manager

Bio:

I have been employed in the housing and social care industry for the past 30 years within a variety of roles from senior carer, housing manager, staff development officer, registered manager and area manager
Many years ago, I was involved as a lead member of a green initiative identifying and developing waste disposal systems with local councils and housing associations in the Sussex area
I enjoy gardening and growing my own organic fruit and vegetables
I spent a number of years living and working in Cyprus as part of the United Nations
I write poetry and have had my work published.

Things that are important to me are spending time with my daughters, and working in a person-centred manner, providing the people that I support, with opportunities to promote their independence, enlighten their experiences and achieve memories. Promoting a positive attitude and service user empowerment are also top of my list.
I enjoy working in a happy environment, and I believe that having a sense of humour helps!
Smiling and laughter is always the best medicine, and a smile can go a long way to brighten someone else’s day…..of course a cup of tea is always a good second best
Life is for living and it is up to us to cease every opportunity and make the best of it. We are all continually learning, so be approachable, share your skills and knowledge with each other.

I believe that basic manners, honesty and respect go a long way.

Most of all, I love being able to make a difference in the lives of the people that I support and in return them making a difference in my life.
